I remember the maddened fizzle
of the radio broadcasts and
garbled patriotic tunes,
people boiling over into the
streets, churning beneath the skyscrapers
and bright billboards of Times Square,
kicking up their heels and confetti
and God-Bless-Americas,
a man kissing the woman he’d never met
crimped over his arm.
Prompt: Write a memory of something you could not possibly remember. (Your grandparent’s wedding, your own birth, the creation of the earth, etc.)
